Are you looking for a Teaching Assistant job in Brighton? Sussex Teachers are recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant for a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brighton and Hove.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school team where positive relationships, inclusion and pupil wellbeing come first. You will support Year 6 pupils with SEND, helping them build confidence, develop independence and achieve their potential within the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
This full-time, temporary Teaching Assistant position is available immediately and is expected to continue for at least one month. The role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, Youth Worker or Childcare Assistant.
Primary Teaching Assistant Role
Working alongside the class teacher and school support team, you will:
- Support Year 6 pupils with SEND in the classroom.
- Provide individual and small-group learning support.
- Adapt activities to help pupils access the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
- Help children develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
Requirements
- Recent experience supporting children (school, nursery, childcare, youth work, or care settings)
- Availability Monday–Friday (8:45am – 3:15pm), 30 hours per week.
- Experience supporting SEND or SEN pupils, particularly children with SEMH challenges is highly desirable
- Availability to work full-time for the one-month placement.
Location
This Primary Teaching Assistant vacancy is based in the Hanover area of Brighton, close to Lewes Road and Brighton city centre. The school is accessible by public transport, with regular buses connecting the area to Brighton Station, central Brighton, Hove, Woodingdean, Brighton Marina and the university campuses. Brighton Station is approximately a 25-minute walk away.
