Would you like a secure class teaching job for the summer term?

A small Church of England primary school in Whitehawk, Brighton is looking for a full-time KS2 class teacher to join them to cover a maternity leave from April until the end of July. Teaching enthusiastic and engaged learners aged 8 - 9 (Year 4), through the summer term you will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with your class and have a real impact on their learning.

You will receive a warm welcome from a professional, highly skilled staff team who will provide a tailored induction programme to settle you into their community. Working in a vibrant, multicultural, inner-city school you will teach a diverse class with wide-ranging abilities and unique personalities. Senior leaders will provide you with support to improve your subject and pedagogical knowledge, enhancing and improving your teaching skills through coaching and CPD training. In addition to in-school support, the school is also part of a thriving partnership with local schools, giving you the opportunity to network with other local teachers and leaders and engage in collaborative workshops and training sessions.


  • Located in central Brighton, the school is easily accessed by public transport with regular bus routes next to the school, however, should you choose to drive the school has a car park you are welcome to use.  
  • Be paid a class teaching salary according to your previous main scale or upper scale.


  • Supported by experienced Teaching Assistants and Individual Needs Assistants you will plan, prepare, and deliver inspiring and creative lessons to a class of less than 30 pupils.
  • You will assess and celebrate the progress and achievements of your pupils, providing feedback to children and their families.


  • Qualified Teacher status with completion of your induction year(s), please note this position is not suitable for Early Career Teachers.
  • Recent classroom teaching experience, ideally within key stage 2.
