Sussex Teachers are working with a community primary school near Hailsham to find a temporary KS2 teaching assistant. This happy village school are looking for a committed and enthusiastic TA to join their Year 6 class for term 6 (7th June - 23rd July).

You will be joining an inclusive primary school with children of all abilities. Staff have high expectations for their children and expect the best for all their pupils, whether that be with their learning, their behaviour, or their conduct. They teach pupils to believe in themselves, take risks and build their resilience, holding the genuine belief that all children have the potential to succeed. The school is situated just outside of Hailsham, with regular bus routes from Hailsham town, Polegate and Heathfield.

As a classroom teaching assistant, you will support the class teacher in delivering lessons to children in the Year 6 classroom. You will provide additional guidance to pupils during class activities, either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. As well as general TA duties you will be working with pupils with challenging behaviour, and so it is important that you follow the school’s behaviour policies and positive reward systems to ensure a consistent and fair approach to the students in your care.

We are looking for someone with experience supporting learners with SEN, whether as Class Teaching Assistant or an Individual Needs Assistant. Ideally you will have experience of working with challenging behaviour. You must have a minimum of 3 months recent experience working in schools and be able to evidence this through Good references.

You will be paid a competitive hourly rate and once registered with Sussex Teachers will have exclusive access to TA and INA roles at our partnership schools. We work closely with schools across Sussex to find education staff for both temporary and part time roles and will work on your behalf to find roles that suit you and your career. When this assignment is completed you will benefit from working with a specialist education consultant who can assist you in finding future roles.
